Frequently Asked Questions

Do the Bisonettes travel with the Howard University Showtime Marching Band?

No. Bisonettes perform during halftime of Howard University home basketball games. Although they enjoy dancing while the band plays at these games, the Bisonettes are not members of The Showtime Marching Band which houses its own dance team. Bisonettes do not perform at Howard University Football games but do participate in homecoming events. The Bisonettes are housed under the Athletics Department while The Showtime Marching Band is housed under the Fine Arts Department.

When are auditions?

Auditions are typically held in late August or early September, however this is subject to change. To stay up to date, please check this site frequently as well as our social media handles on Instagram and Twitter @HUBisonettes. Additionally, you can always feel free to send a message via our contact page for clarity.

What style of dance should I know if I would like to audition?

What makes Bisonettes unique is our ability to perform various dance styles, most often but not limited to Hip Hop, Street Jazz and Lyrical. We consider ourselves a pre-professional, NBA dance style team with a HBCU dance line flair. We look for well trained dancers with a high level of proficiency when it comes to technique. Along with technique we look for well spoken individuals with great presence. We encourage all interested dancers to audition and shoot their shot!

Can men audition for Bisonettes?

The Bisonettes are an all women team. However, we do have instances where we may look to add male dancers to a particular performance. Be sure to follow us our social media handles on Instagram and Twitter @HUBisonettes for those call-outs.
